The Oakland Athletics will look to even up their series with the Houston Astros on Tuesday in their ALDS showdown. 

On Tuesday afternoon, the Oakland Athletics will be ready to try and make things 1-1 in their ALDS battle with the Houston Astros, as the ‘Stros took Game 1 with a convincing 10-5 victory on Monday.

While that will surely be easier said than done, the last thing Oakland can afford is to get itself into an 0-2 hole against Houston’s powerful lineup. Will they be able to get the job done, or will the Astros go up 2-0 on their AL West rivals?

What to watch for in Game 2 of Astros vs. Athletics

For the Athletics, lefty Sean Manaea will get the start for Oakland on Tuesday in hopes of powering his team to a much-needed Game 2 victory. In the regular season, Manaea went 4-3 with a 4.50 ERA. He also had 45 strikeouts on the year with a 1.20 WHIP.

He’ll have the tough task of trying to contain Houston’s sluggers which had a field day in Game 1. In that victory for the Astros, star shortstop Carlos Correa led the way with his four RBI. Jose Altuve also had himself a strong game, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Come Tuesday, Houston will be sending lefty Framber Valdez to the bump. Valdez was a pleasant surprise for the Astros in 2020, going 5-3 with a 3.57 ERA. He posted 76 strikeouts on the campaign as well. Now, we’ll have to wait and see what he’ll be able to deliver in Game 2 against the A’s.
