FanDuel DFS Golf: 2020 Shriners Hospitals for Children Open player picks
By Hans Geevers
This week, the PGA Tour presents the FanDuel/DFS community with the 2020 Shriners Hospitals For Children Open. Let’s take a look at this event from a fantasy golf perspective!
Before I discuss my FanDuel player selections I wanted to clearly state that the purpose of this article is not to provide a specific lineup. Having stated that, this article will provide multiple player options in an effort to assist the reader in generating a unique lineup that will hopefully have the potential to win a FanDuel GPP (guaranteed prize pool) contest!
Here are my FanDuel player selections for the 2021 Shriners Hospitals for Children Open!
Hideki Matsuyama $11,300
The 28 year old arrives at this week’s event on the heels of six consecutive top 29 finishes on the PGA Tour, including a third place result at the BMW Championship in August.
Matthew Wolff $11,100
The talented young American has five top 22 finishes in his last seven events on the PGA Tour, including a second place result at the United States Open.
Additionally, Wolff shot a final round 65 at last year’s Shriners Hospitals For Children Open en route to an eventual 18th place finish.
Sungjae Im $10,400
The 22 year old Korean has four top 28 finishes in his last six events on the PGA Tour, including a 22nd place result at the United States Open last month.
In relation to this week’s current listed Shriners Hospitals For Children Open field, in the last 12 rounds played on the PGA Tour, Im ranks second in driving accuracy, first in GIR (greens in regulation), sixth in strokes gained approach, and second in strokes gained ball striking.
It should also be noted that Im fired an impressive final round 66 in last week’s Sanderson Farms Championship.
Zach Johnson $9,900
The 44 year old American has three top 23 finishes in his last four events on the PGA Tour, including a seventh place result at the Wyndham Championship in August.
Denny McCarthy $9,200
McCarthy finished sixth at last week’s Sanderson Farms Championship.
In relation to this week’s current listed field, in the last 12 rounds played on the PGA Tour, McCarthy ranks third in driving accuracy, seventh in strokes gained tee to green, and second in strokes gained approach.
Martin Laird $7,600
Laird finished 28th at last week’s Sanderson Farms Championship. In relation to the field at the Sanderson Farms Championship, after four rounds of play, Laird ranked second in GIR (greens in regulation-81.9%).
I also like the fact that Laird has played well at TPC Summerlin in the past. Since 2009, Laird has five top 28 finishes at the Shriners, including a win in 2008.
