During Game 1 of the Rays-Yankees ALDS showdown, Tampa Bay’s radio announcer sounds like he’s actually rooting for Aaron Judge to re-injure himself.

The New York Yankees are riding high right now, as the Bronx Bombers took down the Tampa Bay Rays in Game 1 of their ALDS tilt on Monday night. Thanks to the offense going off, highlighted by Giancarlo Stanton’s grand slam, the Yankees were able to take home the victory.

However, they might be pretty damn upset right now thanks to a member of the Tampa Bay radio team. After Aaron Judge grounded out into a double play, it really sounds like the play-by-play man was hoping Judge would injure himself at some point during the series. This is tough to listen to.

The Tampa Bay Rays should be ashamed of themselves for what their announcer had to say

In the video above, you can clearly hear the announcer say, “Aaron Judge trying to sprint and prevent a double play. You want to see that from Stanton and maybe they get some of those recurring leg issues they’ve had in the past bounce back again.”

There’s no defending that remark from the announcer. To basically wish for either Judge or Stanton to go down with an injury is completely irresponsible behavior. It doesn’t matter how much you want your team to win, you can’t take things to this level.

Both Judge and Stanton have had to miss plenty of time for the Yankees in recent years, but they have dreams of taking the team back to the World Series. The Rays are obviously hoping to stop them from doing that, but Judge and Stanton will do everything they can to keep blasting homers and making plays in the field to help their team out.
