Yankees fans hate CB Bucknor more than the Tampa Bay Rays
By John Buhler
CB Bucknor should be glad this game isn’t being played in Yankee Stadium.
The MLB umpire may on the opposite coast, but CB Bucknor cannot escape the wrath of Twitter.
The New York Yankees may have a 1-0 series lead over the division rival Tampa Bay Bays in their ADLS. However, New York is in a tight battle with Tampa Bay for the right to take Game 2 on Tuesday night. Though it may be Hanlon’s razor more than anything, but Yankees Twitter is absolutely slaughtering Bucknor and his atrocious strike zone in a fit of major frustration.
Is CB Bucknor calling the game from the East Coast because it feels like it?
Though other awful umpires like Angel Hernandez and Joe West have usurped him of late on the pantheon on the baddest blues you’ll ever come across, I too have fallen victim to Bucknor’s shenanigans rooting for my team since before I could shave. A generation of fans have hated one Bucknor strike zone after another, and now Yankees Twitter is attacking him relentlessly.

This isn’t the first person Yankees fans have turned on and it sure won’t be the last. However, he is the guy getting more heat than anyone from them today, and that matters because this is the postseason and every single pitch Bucknor cannot correctly determine if it is a ball or strike will determine the course of this series forever. He cannot hand a win to the Rays from Yankees fans.
Not all heroes wear capes, but oftentimes villains do the worst behind the mask…and the plate.
