The 2020 college football season won’t be the same this year but Chris Fowler has a message to Save our Saturdays this fall to make the most of an unusual season.

This college football season will be unlike anything fans have experienced before. Fan attendance is limited across the nation, schedules have been truncated and fans aren’t able to tailgate and celebrate together as they have in the past.

But that doesn’t mean fans can’t adapt to the new realities and still save their Saturdays.

That’s where Dos Equis and their Save Our Saturdays campaign comes into play to save your tailgate and ESPN’s Chris Fowler has helpful tips to make the most out of this unusual season so fans can still be grateful for all the things we can still enjoy.

Don’t punt on fall Saturdays

“It’s a challenge for fans,” Fowler said on limited attendance and tailgating bans. “We have to be grateful there are games to watch. Most of our teams are going to get back on the field, which is fun. What Dos Equis is trying to point out is you shouldn’t punt on fall Saturday fun even if you can’t get out to the stadium.

You can tailgate anytime, anywhere. It’s about bringing friends together you trust, and stay safe, and celebrate what there is to celebrate. You can tailgate in your backyard. Dos Equis is allowing you to assemble the most interesting fun tailgating. There’s a six-foot longer, to keep your distance. There’s a grill that turns into a cornhole game. It’s about adapting and being creative. There’s plenty to celebrate. It may not be quite the same but be grateful for what we can do.”

Miami has shored up all the weaknesses they had and I don’t see a glaring weakness on this team.

After decades as the host of College GameDay, Fowler has seen the best tailgating venues in college football and while it’ll be different this year, fans can still make the most of this season.

I’ve done more tailgating than people may think. There were times I took the tie off after GameDay and mingled with the people from the Grove at Ole Miss to Baton Rouge, to on a boat on Lake Washington in Seattle. It’s the same thing you can do in your backyard this year. Getting together with people you care about with food and beer and enjoying the experience fall Saturdays bring.

Gather around people you wanna be around and share the sense of community, tradition, fun and sense of anticipation about something big happening. It means so much. Traditions, togetherness, the build-up is crucial to college football.”

Despite the limited attendance at games, Fowler notes the passion and stakes remain high and hints at an unpredictable season that could lead to many big upsets.

“What’s happening on the field is no less intense than what we’ll see in a full stadium,” said Fowler. “I know we haven’t seen a complete season but I’ve been impressed with what I’ve seen. The commitment to win is very much there. We’re going to get very unusual results this year. Enjoy it. It’s going to be a crazy, wild stretch fun in this sport like we’ve not seen before.”

Fowler called two Miami football games so far and will be on the call for Saturday’s game at Clemson and he likes what he’s seen from the Hurricanes.

“Miami is one of the stories of the season so far,” Fowler said. “Miami has shored up all the weaknesses they had and I don’t see a glaring weakness on this team. We’ll learn more against Clemson.”

He’s also been impressed with the SEC thus far and the typically stout defensive league is racking up points.

“The SEC, the fans in this league aren’t used to this offense,” Fowler said. Mike Leach [has Mississippi State] throw for 623 yards in Week 1 vs. LSU. {Florida’s] Kyle Trask is a great quarterback.”

This college football season will have challenges but it’ll make it all the more memorable.

“Don’t punt on Saturdays,” Fowler advises fans. “Go out and remember to be grateful and celebrate what’s worth celebrating even if doesn’t feel normal. Fans text SOS to 77000 to get involved with the Dos Equis Save Our Saturdays contest.”
