Five-star wide receiver Caleb Burton has narrowed down his list of schools to 12. Here’s where the elite receiver could be playing his college football.

Caleb Burton, the top receiver in the Class of 2022, has trimmed his list of suitors to a 12, down from 40-plus offers from the nation’s elite college football programs.

The 6-foot, 165-pound receiver is the No. 10 overall recruit, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings, as well as the No. 3 recruit in the state of Texas. The top receiver recruit was lost for his junior season after suffering a knee injury inĀ Del Valle’s season-opener but that hasn’t slowed his recruitment at all.

After narrowing his list of suitors down to 12, Burton is still considering SEC programs Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia and LSU, ACC powerhouse Clemson, Pac-12 powers USC, Stanford and Oregon, area schools Oklahoma and Texas as well as Ohio State from the Big Ten.

The coronavirus pandemic and recruiting shutdown have thrown a few curveballs at Burton, as well as many other recruits, so he’s only been able to visit the campuses at Oklahoma, LSU and Texas. He had intended to take visits toĀ Ohio State, USC, Oregon, Alabama, Georgia and Florida, according to 247Sports’ Steve Wiltfong.

Burton plays for his father, former Syracuse linebacker, Charlie Burton, at Del Valle. As a freshman, he had 32 receptions for 609 yards and six touchdowns. He followed that up with a super sophomore season with 51 grabs for 882 yards and doubled his touchdowns to 12.

As is the case with every Texas recruit, this is one Texas Longhorns head coach Tom Herman needs to lock up, otherwise, he could be facing him if he goes to Oklahoma. But there will be interest from some of the biggest and best programs in the nation so Burton will have a tough decision to make when he’s ready to commit to a school.
