Florida football coach Dan Mullen is pleased with how the Gators have played to start the season but still wants them to develop their killer instinct.

The Florida Gators offense is humming with Kyle Trask looking like the Heisman front-runner and tight end Kyle Trask off to an unreal start, but Florida football coach Dan Mullen thinks they have plenty to improve upon.

After the Gators have started slowly in their first two games against Ole Miss and South Carolina and took their foot off the gas in the fourth quarters, Mullen hopes the Gators continue to work on developing their killer instinct.

Dan Mullen wants Florida to show a killer instinct

Florida has dominated the middle portions of the games they’ve played but hasn’t been able to keep the gas pedal down or the proverbial foot on the throats of their foes and Mullen wants that to change if they hope to contend for an SEC championship.

“I think it’s growing, and I don’t want to downplay that we don’t have it,” Mullen said via the Orlando Sentinel. “I think the uniqueness of the season [with the pandemic] has led to that. If you would’ve asked me in March, ‘Do you think you are going to have that?’ I would’ve said, ‘Yes.’

“But with everything that’s gone on, I think we’re still developing and figuring a lot of things out.”

Florida travels to College Station for Saturday’s game with Texas A&M who is coming off a one-sided loss to Alabama last week. This is an opportunity for Florida to play a complete game and dominate for all four quarters and unleash that killer instinct that Mullen knows is within his team and is waiting to come out in full force.
