Injuries continue to plague NXT as top champion Finn Balor announced he suffered a broken jaw at TakeOver 31.

WWE NXT Champion Finn Balor announced via Twitter that he suffered a broken jaw in two places during his championship defense against Undisputed Era member Kyle O’Reilly at NXT TakeOver 31 on Sunday night.

The injury, which was later confirmed by WWE.com,  occurred during the match. The bout saw both wrestlers come away worse for wear as Kyle O’Reilly has broken several teeth as well.

In the statement released on Twitter,  Balor said, “Broken jaw in two places. Still the CHAMPION. Full story tonight on WWE NXT.”

The revelation of Finn’s injury comes just a few weeks after the man won the vacated belt in a tournament which culminated in a 3 man ironman match on NXT television. The title was vacated after Karrion Kross suffered a “separated acromioclavicular joint” in the main event of TakeOver XXX where he defeated Keith Lee for the title.
