Mahomes had a weird “penalty” this week causing him to uncharacteristically tumble two spots — two players simply played a bit better than him, and those men also remained undefeated.

The Chiefs and Patriots were embroiled in a defensive tryst through two quarters, and it felt like mad gridiron scientist, Bill Belichick, might pull off the unthinkable in stunning the Super Bowl champions with a backup quarterback at the helm. That prognosis was way too enthusiastic.

The Chiefs pummeled the Patriots in the second half riding the steam of some daft turnovers by New England.

The NFL’s 2018 MVP contributed two touchdowns tosses of the touch-pass variety while the Chiefs remained perfect in their title-defense season. Next week, Kansas City will host the Las Vegas Raiders who were battered by Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills in Week 4.

No interceptions have been thrown by Mahomes in 2020, perhaps his most impressive achievement. Of all quarterbacks that have started at least three games this season, only Mahomes, Aaron Rodgers, and Derek Carr have yet to throw a single pick.

So, next week with the Chiefs and Raiders will be a battle of interception-less passers.
