College football DFS quarterback picks October 10:

Top Tier:

You really can’t go wrong with Zach Wilson. He’s going to have a big game, but I think Sam Ehlinger will be bigger. First off, that game should stay close. Second, Oklahoma has no defense to speak of. Ehilinger has fared well against Oklahoma in his career. This will be no different. Ehlinger the is safest play out there and has good upside. It’s really hard to fade that.

For as bad as Oklahoma’s defense has been, Texas isn’t much better on that side of the ball. Spencer Rattler toned down the turnovers against Iowa State and could be primed for a big game against Texas. He is the offense right now. There’s not much help for him.

You know it’s a hell of a slate when Kyle Trask, the guy who threw six touchdowns just two weeks ago, gets fourth billing. Trask has ten touchdown passes in two games. I’m not going to be the guy that tells you not to play him. In fact, he could come at low ownership due to all of the big names in front of him.

Middle Tier:

I’d say that even if Alan Bowman plays, I wont play him. That injury looked bad and there’s no way he’ll be close to 100%. I’d rather use Max Duggan and his new status as TCU’s leading rusher in this price range.

Now, If Henry Colombi starts, that’s a different story. He had some growing pains last week and could again this week. That said, the sheer volume in this offense is an absolute steal at $7,000, especially given Iowa State’s issues in the secondary.

If Brennan Armstrong can turn in a solid DFS performance against Clemson, he can damn sure do it against North Carolina State. Armstrong has the highest upside in this tier aside from Colombi, and that’s only if Colombi starts. We have a suitable pivot if the Red Raiders drag out the status of Bowman.

Bargain Shoppers:

The status of Skyler Thompson is concerning. Kansas State is preparing Howard to start, which takes a nice option off the slate of cheapies. Using a veteran like Jarrett Guarantano against Georgia isn’t the worst idea I’ve heard, but the floor is very low. The risk almost outweighs the reward.

Paying up for two quarterbacks in college football DFS is quite a rush just because we can. No other DFS game lets you use two quarterbacks. However, the value tier of QB is loaded enough that we don’t have to blow half our budget on quarterbacks. Will Howard is a fine option if he starts, but there are others below him that have higher ceilings.

Topping this list is Phil Jurkovec. The Notre Dame transfer is lighting up the airwaves in Boston. Pitt’s defense is good, but they were torched through the air by North Carolina State last week. There’s good potential here even if the BC receivers aren’t as good as the Wolfpack has.

Frank Harris has a really tough matchup with BYU, but his ability to run the ball makes him an intriguing prospect with his price this low. Harris is a massive risk, but there is plenty of upside here. The detractor is that UTSA could use multiple quarterbacks if Harris is ineffective early.
