Tom Brady flips out on his offensive line after flurry of penalties (Video)
Tom Brady was not happy with a -2-yard drive for the Buccaneers featuring five penalties.
Tom Brady kept his cool when his team blew a 13-0 lead in the final two minutes of the first half against the Chicago Bears.
However, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback couldn’t contain his frustration in the second half when his offense produced a horrific drive of football.
The Buccaneers linemen paid the price as he unleashed a rant on the unit back on the sideline.
Tom Brady’s frustrations spilled over during Thursday Night Football
Why was Brady so angry? Tampa Bay had just punted on fourth-and-27 after a six-play drive which netted -2 yards thanks to a series of penalties.
Tristan Wirfs was hit with a holding penalty, then Mike Evans committed offensive pass interference. The ensuing first-and-30 play saw Donovan Smith committed a holding penalty of his own to offset Khalil Mack’s unnecessary roughness on a sack of Brady.
On yet another first-and-30, Smith was flagged with an unnecessary roughness penalty to produce a second-and-34.
The entire sequence was so bad, you can’t really blame Brady for his reaction.
Maybe if Tampa Bay were in a better position on the night, the quarterback could cut his line a bit of slack. That’s not the case though. The Buccaneers were up by 13 in the first half before giving up two touchdowns in the final two minutes.
They returned in the second half to take back the lead on a field goal, but the 16-14 lead was tenuous at best. As if to prove Brady’s frustration correct, the Bears went on to kick a field goal to pull ahead once more at 17-16.
The Bucs and Bears are both looking to improve to 4-1, but someone is going to have to drop to 3-2. Brady understands that.
