Tom Brady has no excuses after Bucs update Mike Evans injury status
Mike Evans is slated to play for the Buccaneers against the Bears, which means Tom Brady has no excuses on Thursday Night Football
When Tom Brady and the Buccaneers take on the Chicago Bears on Thursday Night Football, there shouldn’t be anything holding the Tampa Bay offense back.
Wide receiver Mike Evans has been cleared to play after his status was in doubt with an ankle injury.
Considering how the playmaking pass-catcher had seven receptions for 122 yards and a touchdown in Sunday’s win over the Chargers, the quarterback is probably breathing a sigh of relief. He certainly enjoyed the outing with five touchdowns and 369 yards through the air.
Brady’s most potent weapon will again be on the field against a Bears defense which has given up the least number of passing touchdowns in the league this year.
Tom Brady and Mike Evans will look secure a fourth-straight win vs. the Bears
The Buccaneers will have to deal with injuries forcing wide receivers Chris Godwin, Justin Watson and Josh Pearson to the inactive list.
While those losses will be felt in the lineup, it’s the players who are active who are the most important. Along with Evans, Tampa Bay will have the services of running back Leonard Fournette despite him missing practice all week with an ankle injury.
Fournette had 103 yards on 12 carries against Carolina, but he wasn’t able to suit up against the Chargers.
Even if Fournette is still limited by that injury, the Bucs can feel confident about Ronald Jones II coming off a 111-yard performance.
Tampa Bay is a three-point favorite over Chicago but the Bears are sitting a 3-1 and looking to keep things rolling. They lost on Sunday to the Colts, 19-11, as Nick Foles struggled to get the offense going.
In a battle of the quarterbacks on Thursday Night Football, Brady has the clear advantage.
