The Tampa Bay Rays are on the brink of eliminating the New York Yankees from the 2020 MLB postseason.

After the New York Yankees put on an offensive show in Game 1 of their ALDS battle with the Rays, Tampa Bay has turned things around and won back-to-back games. Now, the Rays have the chance to send the Yankees home packing with a Game 4 win on Thursday night.

Should the Yankees suffer yet another exit in the playoffs, it’ll only add to the heartbreak of recent years for fans. Will they be able to keep their season alive and force a decisive Game 5?

The New York Yankees will be playing for their postseason lives on Thursday night in Game 4

With a win on Thursday, the Rays will be advancing to the ALCS for the second time in franchise history. The Yankees of course will look to spoil the party, as they’ll be sending lefty Jordan Montgomery to start to try and take down Tampa Bay.

Montgomery had a bit of an up and down regular season, going 2-3 with a 5.11 ERA. Regardless, skipper Aaron Boone is putting his trust in the 27-year-old hurler to step his game up for this massive game. Boone will also be hoping the Yankee bats wake up a bit, with Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton, Gleyber Torres and others needed to come through in the clutch.

For the Rays, they’re going with reliever Ryan Thompson as their opener for Game 4. Thompson had a 4.44 ERA in the regular season with 23 strikeouts.
