Clemson football made a huge mistake and got blocked again by Miami football.
The Miami football team blocked another B.T. Potter field goal attempt in the first half.
Even though the Clemson Tigers held a 21-10 lead heading into halftime, all momentum shifted in the favor of the Miami Hurricanes. Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney had Potter attempt a 61-yard field goal attempt against the same special teams unit who blocked him earlier. Too badĀ the field goal attempt was blocked by Jared Harrison-Hunte and returned 48 yards by DJ Ivey for six.
āThatās a terrible decision by me,ā said Swinney to ABCās Allison Williams at halftime. āDidnāt work out. No oneās fault but mine. ⦠āIām just disappointed in myself right now. Thatās about as bad a coaching decision as Iāve made.ā
Clemson gifted Miami seven points before half
While trying to get three more points and attempt to flex on Miami, Clemson got burnt in a big way. Instead of it being potentially 24-3 Clemson at halftime, or even 21-3 at the half, Miami was able to cut into the deficit to make it 21-10 Tigers over the āCanes. That was a 10-point swing and it may end up costing Clemson in this one if the Tigers donāt respond in the second half.
Miami is not yet in Clemsonās class as a program, but the āCanes are certainly trending in the right direction under second-year head coach Manny Diaz. With the likes of DāEriq King, Brevin Jordan, CamāRon Harris and offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee, Miami has the horses on that side of the ball to at least make this game compelling deep into the second half. Can they pull off the upset?
Clemson may end up winning this game anyway, but the Tigers got burnt trying to be cocky.
