Dak Prescott suffered a terrible-looking injury and Twitter was shaken up over it.
It’s never fun to see a player sustain what is clearly a long-term injury. It’s especially tough when that player is so well-respected and performing at such a high level as Dak Prescott.
Unfortunately, Prescott didn’t have any control over his fate when he was tackled to the ground while playing the New York Giants and his ankle twisted beneath him.
The result of the play? An apparently awful injury to one of the most exciting quarterbacks in the league.
Dak Prescott’s gruesome injury was hard to watch
If you haven’t seen video of the injury yet, here’s a link to it. Be warned. It’s not for the faint of heart.
Words couldn’t really sum up the devastation as Prescott himself became aware of the severity of the injury. Video does it as well as anything.
Just a brutally emotional two minutes for the #Cowboys and Dak Prescott. pic.twitter.com/1yXwSRP8nT

Current and former NFL stars were quick to send well-wishes, from a Cowboys legend, rival players and more.
Devastated for @dak - one of the truly great people in the NFL

If Dak’s your guy check on him. Be there for him. He has had one hell of a year, & has already been going through it. He needs his people to step up and be there. Y’all do that man. Y’all be where you’re supposed to be, & where y’all are needed. Lift him up! Blessings @Dak 🙏🏾

Athletes who jumped on the prayer wagon weren’t just football players.

There were a lot of people out there making comparison’s between witnessing Prescott’s injury and other devastating ones which have cropped up over the years.
I can’t get over seeing Dak Prescott’s ankle.

Tempted to tweet how hard it is to be a Cowboys fan- then realized that man just snapped his ankle. That’s hard!
Reminds me of Lawrence Taylor breaking Joe Thiesman’s leg in 1985.
I know this has been tweeted a million times, but on THE day Alex Smith comes back, Dak Prescott suffers what looks like a similar injury. #NYGvsDAL

Shades of Gordon Hayward with that Dak Prescott injury.

Prescott’s season isn’t the only thing at stake with this injury.
The business side of the NFL: The injury risk that Dak Prescott accepted when rejecting multi-year offers to play on the one-year franchise tag becomes an untimely reality. He was having a record-setting season.

The overriding message in the wake of Prescott being carted off had to do with his character on and off the field. There’s a reason so many joined in the outpouring of support.
One of the most respected guys in the league. Never respected enough by the fan base. https://t.co/2nAbcy0lkL

Prescott was replaced by Cowboys’ backup Andy Dalton, who will presumably be called upon to lead a Dallas team that was already decimated by injury.
Of all the injuries the Cowboys are dealing with, losing Prescott is undoubtedly the biggest of them all.
