Jose Altuve’s resume in October continues to have him climbing up the record books.

Jose Altuve put the first run across the board by way of long ball in Game 1 of the 2020 ALCS.

The Houston Astros second baseman may no longer be a popular player in the sport, but he has been one of the most productive second basemen in MLB postseason history. With his solo shot off Tampa Bay Rays ace Blake Snell, Altuve cements himself as the best power-hitting second baseman in the the history of October baseball. He surpasses some incredible company, too.

No second baseman digs the long ball more in LCS play than Jose Altuve.

Though we’ve had League Championship Series for a few generations, it’s always impressive when a player does something that’s never been done before. That was Altuve’s fifth career ALCS home run, putting him past the likes of Dustin Pedroia, Robinson Cano and Daniel Murphy for the most all time by a second baseman. For a position not known for power, Altuve certainly has it.

Even though you can never take an LCS appearance for granted, Altuve is still very much in the prime of his career. He could play baseball into his late 30s at a high level if he really wanted to. However, there are no guarantees the Astros will be back after this season. You have to win at least one, if not multiple, playoff series to be playing for the right to go to the World Series.

Look for Altuve to extend his second base LCS home run lead in the coming days for Houston.
