Deshaun Watson be praised, Bill O’Brien is gone
Pour one out for Bill O’Brien, as the now-former Houston Texans head coach and general manager was fired this past week after a loss to the previously winless Minnesota Vikings. O’Brien had made a number of curious moves in both positions of late, including trading DeAndre Hopkins to the Arizona Cardinals this offseason.
While Watson is signed long-term, the Texans are right to be worried about his short-term future had O’Brien remained in charge. The Clemson product was wasting away, spending more time running around after awful play-calling and blocking schemes than showing off his valuable arm in the pocket. Now that O’Brien is gone, Watson is trying to make the most out of a new opportunity. His first throw of the post-O’Brien era was a great one — a near 40-yard bomb to Brandin Cooks. We can’t make this stuff up.

O’Brien was an easy target come the end of his tenure in Houston
BOB isn’t to blame for everything that’s gone wrong in H-Town over the past year-plus, but given the amount of power and autonomy the McNair family gave him, if the house caved in he was always going to receive the blame.
Houston was a playoff team just a season ago, and held a significant advantage on the Kansas City Chiefs before some Patrick Mahomes magic happened. Now, O’Brien is out of a job and the Texans must figure out where to go from here.
