2020 NFL power rankings, Week 6: Steelers survive, Chiefs fall
The defending Super Bowl champion Chiefs slip from the top spot.
It proved to be an odd week as the league was forced to reschedule numerous games. The Broncos and Patriots clash in Foxborough was delayed for the second time. There was an inspiring comeback in Washington, an unfortunate setback for the Cowboys and a pair of dismissals in Atlanta. And once again, playing at home was far from a guaranteed victory.

Joe Flacco got the start over ailing Sam Darnold, sidelined with a shoulder injury. The 13-year veteran only hit on 18 of his 33 attempts and was sacked twice as the winless Jets were limited to only 285 total yards and one trip to the end zone. Gregg Williams’ defensive unit was torched for 496 total yards and New York allowed 30-plus points for the fourth straight game. In his return to the field, running back Le’Veon Bell totaled 13 carries for 60 yards.

The winless Falcons hosted the rival Panthers looking to extend their recent success in this series. But Matt Rhule’s team had other plans Atlanta had some success running the ball via Todd Gurley (121 yards rushing, 1 touchdown) but quarterback Matt Ryan and the offense overall struggled to the tune of being limited to three field goals after a first-quarter TD. Late Sunday night, head coach Dan Quinn and GM Thomas Dimitroff had been let go by the club.

Having allowed at least 31 points in each of their last three games, Doug Marrone’s team made its way to Houston to take on the winless Texans. But the Jaguars had dropped four straight games in this AFC South rivalry and the losing streak continued as the Jacksonville defense, despite picking off Deshaun Watson twice, was overrun to the tune of 486 total yards. Marrone’s sliding club has allowed a combined 127 points during its four-game skid.
Head coach Ron Rivera opted to sit Dwayne Haskins in favor of quarterback Kyle Allen, who got off to a rough start and eventually was forced to leave the game. That signaled the emotional return of Alex Smith, back on the field for the first time in nearly two years. But it would be a long afternoon for Ron Rivera’s club as the team gave up 30-plus points for the fourth straight outing. The Washington offense managed a disappointing 108 total yards.
