FOX jinxed the heck out of Braves just before Kiké Hernandez home run
The FOX broadcast hyped up the performance of Braves’ pitchers just before Kiké Hernandez blasted a home run
The curse of the commentator is alive and well.
During Game 1 of the NLCS, no sooner had the FOX broadcast team brought up an impressive stretch of scoreless innings for the Braves, Dodgers‘ second baseman Kiké Hernandez blasted a home run to score the first point of the series for Los Angeles.
So much for Braves‘ 23 consecutive scoreless innings stretching back to the eighth inning of Game 1 of the NLDS against the Marlins.
Atlanta fans were aware of the danger immediately.
FOX jinxed the Braves into giving up the tying run to Kiké Hernandez
The Dodgers had given up a home run in the first inning to Freddie Freeman, so Hernandez’s bomb simply evened things up. That particular homer didn’t come with the same kind of comical lead-in stat though.
Before the home run, Max Fried had given up three hits with seven strikeouts.
Dodgers pitcher Walker Buehler was able to recover from the early home run by logging seven strikeouts. He was replaced by Brusdar Graterol in the sixth inning when he allowed his first two hits since the first inning.
The road to the NLCS was simple for both clubs now battling at Globe Life Field in Arlington. Both the Dodgers and Braves swept their way through the Wild Card Series, against the Brewers and Reds respectively. The Dodgers faced the Padres in the NLDS while the Braves took on the Miami Marlins. Los Angeles and Atlanta each proved their worth by quickly dispatching their opponents in three games.
Now, the two face a seven-game series for the right to take on the champion of the American League in the World Series.
