Nick Saban makes a young boy’s day by calling him on the phone.
Here is the latest example of Nick Saban paying it forward to a young fan.
Ahead of last Saturday’s road game, Saban called Braxton Weidman, a young Alabama fan from nearby Shelby County who is battling brain cancer. Saban told him that two of Weidman’s favorite players in Najee Harris and Jaylen Waddle are thinking about him and were going to play super hard for him on Saturday night vs. the Ole Miss Rebels, which they so did.
"Are you going to run Najee?" That's what a boy battling brain cancer asked Alabama coach Nick Saban during their call Friday. On Saturday, @ohthatsNajee22 ran wild against Ole Miss, finishing with 206 yards and 5 touchdowns! #RollTide https://t.co/684j20muM4

Harris ran for 206 yards and a career-high five touchdowns in Alabama’s win over Ole Miss.
Nick Saban always takes the time to reach out to fans like Braxton Weidman.
Saban is the winningest Power 5 coach in the game today. With more national championships than most programs could ever dream of, Saban continues to be a shining example of what college football is all about. It has and always will mean more in the Southeastern United States. It was only a few minutes of Saban’s time, but that phone call made The Weidman’s year.
Given that Alabama doesn’t have a major professional team in-state, the Crimson Tide and the rival Auburn Tigers are the Yellowhammer State’s two professional teams. To have the face of the program to check in on you and see how you’re doing in your battle with brain cancer says everything you need to know about Saban. He gets it and has always gotten it. What a moment.
The camera didn’t have to be rolling because Saban would have made the call anyway.
