Social media went wild after Le’Veon Bell was released
The New York Jets, realizing they have nothing left to play for in 2020 and trying to get out from under Le’Veon Bell’s massive contract, spent the day trying to trade the former All-Pro running back. After failing to do so, Bell has been shown his pink slip.
The Jets decided to release Bell, who liked tweets criticizing head coach Adam Gase’s offensive game-plan, and remain on the hook for $15 million in dead cap.

Le’Veon Bell was thrilled to leave the Jets
Bell’s tweet right after makes it seem like the release was what both parties wanted.

Le’Veon’s Jets career lasted just 18 games, but he did get a cool $28 million out of the arrangement.
Le'Veon Bell made $28M in 18 games with the Jets.

Bell, who thrived behind the Pittsburgh Steelers’ standout offensive-line, struggled behind a leaky unit with the Jets
Le'Veon Bell's tenure with the Jets ends as such:
— Field Yates (@FieldYates) October 14, 2020
* 17 games played
* 264 rushes (none longer than 19 yards)
* 0 100-yard rushing games
* 4 total touchdowns
* And $27M paid
Emmanuel Acho put most of the blame on Gase, who traded Jamal Adams and has done little to develop Sam Darnold.
Adam Gase resume in 1.5 years with the Jets:

•Shipped off potential future HOF, Jamal Adams.
•Ruined and then released a once top 3 running back in Le’Veon Bell.
•Caused Sam Darnold, a top 3 draft pick budding with potential, to see ghosts.
It appears that letting Mike Maccagnan give Bell that contract before firing him for Joe Douglas was not a great plan for the Jets.
Beginning to think letting a GM make a huge free agent signing at running back the coach wasn’t into and then letting that GM run the draft before firing him wasn’t the best course of action for @LeVeonBell and the #Jets

Just two years removed from Bell sitting 2018 out and Antonio Brown’s final year in Pittsburgh, neither of them are employed while the Steelers are undefeated.
Le'Veon Bell and Antonio Brown are not on NFL rosters in the year 2020. Imagine saying that a few years ago.

Both Bell and Brown were productive, but both of them haven’t been able to replicate that success outside of Pittsburgh.
Le'Veon Bell and Antonio Brown combined for 3,479 yards of offense and 20 touchdowns for the Steelers in 2017 and were both named First team All-Pro and to the Pro Bowl.

Now neither one is on an NFL roster.
Wild.
Potential destinations for Bell are already springing up, with Matt Nagy’s Chicago Bears standing out as one attractive option.
I’d be all for the #Bears kicking the tires on Le’Veon Bell. We shall see if they do.

The Chargers, Cardinals, and Seahawks could also work as destinations for Bell.
Chargers, Steelers, Seahawks, Cardinals all seem like fun/logical destinations for Le’Veon Bell.

If Bell wanted to give the Jets the middle finger, he could go sign with Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots.
Jets: "After failing to find a trade partner, we've decided to release RB Le'Veon Bell."

Bell will find his next employer soon, but that doesn’t make his release any less shocking.
Next. Could Sam Darnold also be cut loose?. dark
