Coronavirus pandemic may leave Lakers without a championship parade
Unfortunately for LA Lakers fans, the coronavirus may prevent the team from hosting its NBA Finals championship parade.
Fans all over Los Angeles and California are still buzzing after the Lakers took down the Miami Heat in Game 6 of the NBA Finals to bring home another championship. Immediately after the win, countless folks took to the streets to go wild in celebration.
Unfortunately for all those fans, they may not get to party with LeBron James and the rest of the team in the near future. That’s because due to the Coronavirus pandemic, it’s still up in the air if the Lakers will be able to host their championship parade or not.
There is no public celebration scheduled for the Los Angeles Lakers after winning the NBA Finals
Normally after a team wins the NBA Finals, you’d see the streets packed with thousands and thousands of people, with a bus showcasing the players grinning from ear to ear. Due to COVID-19, though, health officials have banned large gatherings of people in order to try and contain the virus.
Despite the Lakers winning the title, there will be no special treatment in terms of a potential parade. The Lakers announced on Twitter that they’ll plan on celebrating with fans in the open when it’s safe to do so, but at this point no one really knows when that will be.
Despite no parade being scheduled, that doesn’t take away from the incredible postseason run James and the Lakers went on. While the Heat and Jimmy Butler looked poised to try and pull off an upset, nothing was going to stop LA from being crowned the champs. For James, it’s his fourth NBA Finals title, with this one coming in year No. 17 in the NBA.
