Fantasy Football stars & studs, Week 5: Chase Claypool rocks
Jamison Crowder – New York Jets
The Jets have displayed extremely little in the way of redeemable qualities during a dismal 0-5 start to the season.
Their offense is an excruciating watch but one continued bright spot has been the play of veteran slot receiver Jamison Crowder, whose consistency has rewarded fantasy players who were willing to take the gamble on a skill-position player on a team as bad as the Jets.
Crowder has been the only dependable player on the Jets’ offense and he continued his strong season by catching eight of his 10 targets for 116 yards and a touchdown in the loss to the Arizona Cardinals.
That performance earned Crowder 25.6 points in PPR scoring and means he now has 100-yard efforts in each of his three games this season.
His showing versus Arizona proved Crowder can produce regardless of the quarterback, with Joe Flacco taking the reins under center from the injured Sam Darnold.
With head coach Adam Gase displaying a stifling lack of creativity on the offensive side of the ball, the Jets’ passing game will likely continue to run through Crowder.
His efforts in making the most of the plentiful opportunities may not be enough to get the Jets a win, but Crowder can be a decisive contributor in fantasy leagues and should be in starter consideration every week until he endures a drop-off that reveals otherwise.
