The Dodgers unloaded on the Braves in the first inning of Game 3 of the NLCS
Game 3 of the NLCS between the Dodgers and the Braves got off to an early start in every sense.
By the time the first inning was over, Los Angeles held an unbelievable 11-0 advantage.
One can only imagine the reaction of all those Dodgers fans in Los Angeles who spent the last hour of their workday sneaking a peek at the game on their phone.
But wait! It’s 2020 and most of those fans are probably working from home anyway. We know exactly what they’re thinking because we’ve got a thing called Twitter.
The Dodgers’ magical start had Twitter in a tizzy
First things first, let’s get some stats out of the way. The 11-run inning was incredible.
11-RUN FIRST INNING. 🔥

The Dodgers' 11 runs were the most in any inning by any team in playoff history. #LATogether pic.twitter.com/XEEEdkxdPw
The historical output of the inning didn’t just end at runs. The batters were absolutely crushing the ball.
The #Dodgers had 5 base hits 105 MPH+ in the first inning.... That's the first time in @statcast history that a team has had 5 105 MPH+ base hits in any inning... ever. Talk about crushing the ball.

For the record, the Over for the game was 9.5 runs.

As you might imagine, Dodgers fans were stoked.

like honestly when it’s 11-0 in the first inning you just gotta say screw it and get weird

Exploring the reaction to the Dodgers wouldn’t be complete with just the celebrations for the boys in blue. For Braves fans, it was an all too familiar nightmare.
BRAVES FANS IN 2019 - "Jesus, giving up ten runs in an inning is one of the worst things I've ever seen happen to my team. Thank god things can't get much worse than this for the Braves..."

For those who don’t already know, the Braves gave up the previous record of 10-runs in an inning to the Cardinals in the decisive Game 5 of the NLDS in 2019.
This guy knows all about it.
This is James. The last two baseball games that James has been to the Braves have given up a total of 21 runs in the first inning...so there’s that.

James is not happy. @680TheFan pic.twitter.com/JXhe6IP9E5
His expression brings this meme to life.

The sad thing is how well the Braves had been pitching up until Wednesday.
Kyle Wright allowed as many runs in the first inning of Game 3 (six) as the entire Braves team did in their first 64 innings this postseason.

On the plus side, there are still fans in Atlanta looking for a silver lining.
The last time the Braves had a terrible first inning in the playoffs they won their next seven playoff games

In case the first inning wasn’t enough for the Braves, the Dodgers went ahead and hit home runs in the second and third innings as well.
