NFL MVP stock watch, Week 6: Russell Wilson is unstoppable
By Dustin Baker
4. Patrick Mahomes, QB (Kansas City Chiefs)

Somehow, the Kansas City Chiefs dropped a division game at home to the Las Vegas Raiders. This certainly was not an embarrassing or unprecedented occurrence, but it was a bit weird.
Jon Gruden’s Raiders looked the part in Week 5. The silver and black-clad bunch engaged in a shootout with a top-two NFL quarterback in Mahomes and toppled the 2018 MVP. Las Vegas stands alone in second place in the AFC West and would be the final playoff participant if the postseason began today.
But enough on how good the Raiders played. Let’s talk about why Mahomes remains steady at No. 4 on the Stock Watch. He had a “bad” game that ended with a statline of three total touchdowns and 340 passing yards. Mahomes showed human-like characteristics when he threw for an interception — his first of 2020 — a 51 percent completion ratio and an 83.5 passer rating.
Even on shoddy days that results in a loss, Mahomes bumbles his way to three scores and 300+ yards passing. Good Lord.
Because of that habit, Mahomes’ position remains firm on the MVP Stock Watch and would probably need the Chiefs to lose about three consecutive games to exit the rankings. Not happening.
