Alabama football coach Nick Saban is still asymptomatic and coaching from home after testing positive for the coronavirus.

One day after testing positive for the coronavirus, Alabama football coach Nick Saban is still not experiencing any symptoms and continues to coach from his home. Saban will not be able to coach the team vs. No. 3 Georgia on Saturday, barring some sort of medical breakthrough or him coaching from a cherry picker or some sort of personal bubble, which would be fun to see. But offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian is expected to be the acting head coach and continue calling plays with Saban on the proverbial sideline.

Alabama provided an update on Saban’s condition on Thursday afternoon after being evaluated by Alabama team physician Dr. Jimy Robinson.

Nick Saban continues to be symptom-free after testing positive for COVID-19

“Coach Saban was evaluated by our team physician Dr. Jimmy Robinson today,” Jeff Allen, UA’s Associated AD for Sports Medicine said in a statement from the school. “Coach remains asymptomatic at this point and is doing fine. He is continuing to self-isolate and will remain in the SEC testing protocol while being evaluated daily.”

There have been no other reported positive cases outside of Alabama athletic director Greg Byrne who’s diagnosis was revealed at the same time as Saban’s. And the SEC has no plans of postponing Saturday night’s game, unless there is a massive outbreak that puts Alabama’s football roster below the 53 scholarship player minimum. That’s what led to the postponement of Florida’s game with LSU after they had more than 20 players test positive and more in quarantine and others recovering from injury.
