5 teams that could use Jeremy Lin next season
By Mike Luciano
Jeremy Lin wants to give it one last try in the NBA.
After winning an NBA title as a seldom-used backup with the Toronto Raptors, Jeremy Lin crossed the Pacific and starred in China last year. While Lin could stay in Beijing and continue to dominate, he has his eyes on the NBA as he wants to shoot his shot one last time in America.
After putting up 22.3 points per game on 49 percent shooting during his only season with the Beijing Ducks, Lin in gearing up for one final run at the NBA.
His days as a starter are clearly over, but there are plenty of teams in need of a backup with his experience and shooting, and they should give Lin a call.
Jeremy Lin could be a good fit for any of these five teams
The Timberwolves have an above-average point guard in D’Angelo Russell, one of the best young scorers in the league. Beyond that, the Timberwolves have absolutely zilch behind him, as Jordan McLaughlin lacks the offensive skill to emerge as a viable shooter within the next year. While the Timberwolves could consider burning a second-round pick to find a potential deputy in case something happens to Russell, Gersson Rosas and the front office might be better off throwing out a line and seeing if Lin ends up biting.
Sitting on the bench for Toronto in the playoffs overshadowed the fact that he averaged just under 10 points a game on 44 percent shooting during the 2018-19 season with the Raptors and Atlanta Hawks. On a Timberwolves team that clearly wants to push the pace and rise up from three more than the rest of the league, Lin could find a home for the final act of his NBA career. Minnesota, who is still in a rebuilding phase, needs to convince Lin they can do some damage in the West and to eschew contenders in favor of them.
