5 teams that could use Jeremy Lin next season
By Mike Luciano
The Lakers have one of the most fluid point guard situations in the league, as LeBron James often assumes that role when bringing the ball up the court and running the offense. Even if James takes over that role once again in 2020-21, they could use more backcourt depth after Rajon Rondo decided to opt-out of his contract and test the open market. While Lin is nowhere near the passer or rebounder Rondo is, he can potentially provide more than the veteran on the offensive end given how he is better at rising and firing from 3-point range.
Lin will likely look for contenders, as a veteran like him would probably enjoy playing on a team with title aspirations over a rebuilding project like Minnesota or Phoenix. LA could be Lin’s ideal situation, as going to the Lakers would give him consistent minutes, a system that will get him some open shots every game, and a spot on a team with eyes on another championship in 2020-21, all while staying close to home by linking up with a California team.
