Shams confirms the obvious: Heat set to go ‘all in’ on Giannis
Once Giannis Antetokounmpo hits free agency, NBA insider Shams Charania has confirmed the Miami Heat will do whatever it takes to sign him.
While the 2020 NBA season may have just wrapped up with the Los Angeles Lakers being crowned as the NBA Finals champs, countless fans out there are already counting down the days for the 2021 campaign to arrive. There’s going to be plenty of drama and intrigue next season.
However, once that season comes to a close, you better believe all of the attention will quickly shift to free agency. That’s because the reigning NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo is all set to be a free agent, and multiple teams have already showcased strong interest in bringing him to town. This, of course, assumes that Giannis turns down the supermax extension offer he’s sure to get from the Bucks.
The long list of course includes the Miami Heat. Pat Riley and Co. will look to do whatever is needed to sign Antetokounmpo, as the team is reportedly set to go ‘all in’ to land his services.
Giannis Antetokounmpo is set to be a free agent next summer and Miami wants him bad
It should come as no shock that the Heat are ready to heavily pursue Antetokounpmo, as it’s been reported for months now that they’d love him to suit up for them.
Really, everyone in the NBA wants him on their team. He just took home NBA MVP honors after a brilliant 2019-20 campaign for the Bucks, posting 29.5 points, 13.6 rebounds and 5.6 assists per game.
Milwaukee entered the postseason with the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference, but they ultimately fell to the Miami Heat 4-1 in their conference semifinals showdown. With Jimmy Butler appearing ready to suit up for Miami for the long haul, the thought of him being paired with Antetokounmpo should terrify the rest of the league. Now, we must wait to see if Miami will ultimately get things done.
