Colts shut down facility after multiple positive COVID-19 tests
By Mike Luciano
The Indianapolis Colts had several positive COVID-19 tests.
The COVID-19 pandemic has already forced a few postponements on the NFL schedule, and those postponements have created a Week 6 schedule that was Frankensteined together after a few Week 5 games were pushed back. Even more schedule chaos might be on the horizon, as the Indianapolis Colts became the latest team to have a few positive tests.
The Colts have decided to shut their entire facility down after receiving several positive COVID-19 tests. While the team works to confirm those tests, the Colts will work remotely as they try to follow the NFL’s protocols. After the Atlanta Falcons had a positive test yesterday, Indy became the second team in as many days to shut down their facility.
The Indianapolis Colts are supposed to take on the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 6
The Colts are still scheduled to take on Joe Burrow and a Cincinnati Bengals looking to rebound after a rough showing against the Baltimore Ravens, as the league expects Indy to isolate the positive tests and prevent a Titans-esque outbreak. If this game is unable to be played, look for the league to once again play musical chairs with the schedule.
The Cleveland Browns, who took down Philip Rivers and the Colts last week, had every single member of their staff test negative for COVID-19. While we are no closer to an answer on where the two Colts’ staffers tested positive or how severe their cases are, getting them isolated needs to remain priority No. 1.
Having a few positive tests is nothing out of the ordinary, but the Titans showed what can happen if those positive tests are not isolated quickly and efficiently. If Indianapolis does that and are able to prevent more cases, their game against the Bengals should continue as expected.
