The Atlanta Braves need one more win over the Los Angeles Dodgers to reach the World Series
The Atlanta Braves are one win over the Los Angeles Dodgers away from winning the pennant.
It has been two decades since Atlanta reached the World Series. It had been nearly two decades since the Braves even got this far in the postseason. As of right now, they need one more win over the Dodgers before they can party like it’s 1999. Atlanta is up 3-1 in the 2020 NLCS and will be the home team tonight in a potential series-clinching Game 5. Can the Braves do the improbable?

First pitch from Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas will be at 9:08 p.m. ET, 8:08 p.m. CT. Dustin May will be the starter for the Dodgers, while A.J. Minter will serve as the opener for the Braves. FS1 will have the national telecast of Game 5 of the 2020 NLCS. The available live stream for this postseason game can be found on MLB streams subreddit.
Despite winning three of the first four games of the series, the Dodgers are favored to win Game 5 at -200, while the Braves are getting +170 on the money line. This game’s over/under comes in at a combined nine runs. Given that we’ve seen a ton of offensive fireworks in the last two games, the over feels like it’s going to hit here. Odds are from Odds Shark.
As you have probably realized, this will be a bullpen game for Atlanta. The Braves have been at a starting pitching deficiency for much of the year. However, they can afford to go with a strong left-hander like Minter as the opener because Braves manager Brian Snitker plans to use left-handed ace Max Fried in Game 6 if necessary and right-handed rookie sensation Ian Anderson in Game 7.
May has played some in this series in relief, but he will be making the start for the Dodgers with the hopes Los Angeles can live to fight another day. This season has been labeled World Series or bust for the Dodgers. If they don’t even get to the Fall Classic for the second straight year, it will be viewed as a massive disappointment for the National League’s No. 1 seed.
Will Atlanta get to raise a pennant after tonight or will the Dodgers for Game 6 on Saturday?
