Edgar Berlanga came into his contest with Lanell Bellows with 14 straight first-round knockouts. He moved that mark to 15 with a TKO over Lanell Bellows.

Edgar Berlanga came into his Saturday, Oct. 17, bout against Lanell Bellows on the undercard of Lomachenko vs. Lopez with 14 consecutive knockouts, all in the first round. He kept the streak alive.

Berlanga (15-0, 15 KOs) 23, of Brooklyn, New York, made quick work of Bellows (20-6-3, 13 KOs), which was no surprise. Bellow’s made it to one minute and 19 seconds into the first round before the referee called it a TKO as Bellows was getting beaten to a pulp along the ropes.

Berlanga hurt Bellows early with a left hook that wobbled his legs. He picked up his pace and threw combinations. Berlanga opened up a deep gash over Bellows’ left eye with a right hook. Bellows curled up in the guard and laid on the ropes as Berlanga landed punch after punch.

Is Edgar Berlanga the best knockout puncher in boxing? Maybe.

Bellows was defenseless, and referee Robert Hoyle saw enough and waved off the fight awarding Berlanga the TKO victory.

After the fight, Berlanga offered a blunt appraisal of his victory.

“Obviously, with the first shot, I cut him open,” said Berlanga. “He didn’t want to be in there from the beginning. I had to get him out.”

Berlanga’s first-round KO streak keeps going as he hits 15 in a row, and he did it in style on ESPN. He’s traversing quickly through the super middleweight division and has yet to be close to tested. Hopefully, Berlanga can find an opponent to give him at least two rounds in his next fight.
