Tennessee football fans have seen enough of Jeremy Pruitt and after the Vols lost at home to Kentucky for the first time since 1984, fans are calling for Pruitt to be fired.

After losing to Kentucky in Neyland Stadium for the first time in 36 games, Tennessee football fans are ready for head coach Jeremy Pruitt to be fired.

Pruitt signed a five-year contract extension prior to the season after the Vols closed the year on a six-game winning streak to suggest the Vols had turned the corner in their annual rebuild. However, after getting curb-stomped in the second half vs. Georgia and showing no fight against Kentucky, Vols fans are fed up and are demanding change.

Naturally, fans demanding a coach be fired on Twitter after a loss is a weekly tradition in college football, and after signing a five-year extension, there’s just no way Pruitt will be fired by Tennessee athletic director Phillip Fulmer, but they’re venting on Twitter nonetheless.

While Pruitt may not be fired, someone could be losing their job, and it could be starting quarterback Jarrett Guarantano who had three turnovers, including a pair of pick-sixes in the second quarter to effectively lose the game vs. Kentucky. Harrison Bailey could be the starter, but with Alabama on the schedule next week, that’s asking for trouble.

Tennessee offensive coordinator Jim Chaney could be another one at risk of losing his job with the Vols offense showing no signs of life in the passing game. And considering the state of defenses around college football and how easy it’s seemed to develop a prolific passing attack, it’s a big indictment on his ability to coach the offense and develop talent.

With Alabama coming to Neyland next week, brace yourself for another round of ‘fire Jeremy Pruitt’ tweets from Vols fans who have run out of patience with their head coach.
