Whether he likes it or not, Dak Prescott shouldn’t be prepared to leave the Cowboys anytime soon. Another franchise tag is coming.

Despite fans across the NFL believing that Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott will be leaving the Lone Star State, Jerry Jones isn’t ready to let that happen. And if anyone knows Jones, he gets what he wants

According to reports, the Cowboys are prepared to tag Prescott again in 2021 if the two parties cannot come to a long-term agreement.

Prescott suffered a season-ending broken ankle in Week 5, making him one of the top names that will miss the remainder of the 2020 regular season. The 27-year-old is expected to make a full recovery and return to action before the start of next season.

Dallas elected to franchise tag Prescott this past offseason while paying the likes of players around him. On the recent tag, the former fourth-round pick would make $33 million for the season. Should the Cowboys tag him again, the price would only play into his favor, raising to roughly $38 million.

Prescott, who was entering a career-year before the injury, has stated multiple times the terms to a contract would be for a four-year deal. According to sources, the Cowboys offered him a contract in the offseason but wanted to sign him for five years. Just months after signing the franchise tender, the Houston Texans offered their franchise quarterback Deshaun Watson a four-year, $160 million deal.

Both sides are hoping to agree in the middle in the coming year as Prescott continues to develop into one of the more consistent quarterbacks in the league. Prior to his injury, he led the NFL with 1,856 yards to go along with nine touchdowns, four interceptions and a rating of two 99.4.
