The Dallas Cowboys play their first game without Dak Prescott starting under center since 2016, as Andy Dalton takes on the Arizona Cardinals

Week 6 is going to be a strange one for Dallas Cowboys fans. For the first time since 2016, Dak Prescott won’t be starting under center for Dallas, as he’s done for the season after his gruesome right ankle injury. The Cowboys will look to keep pace in the winnable NFC East, as Andy Dalton will look to keep pace with Kyler Murray and the Arizona Cardinals on Monday night.

The Cowboys lost Prescott in the third quarter of their divisional matchup against the New York Giants. Dalton performed admirably in relief, as he completed 9-of-11 pass attempts for 111 yards, two of which were two critical throws to wide receiver Michael Gallup to set up the game-winning field goal by Greg Zuerlein.

While Dalton has dream targets in Amari Cooper, CeeDee Lamb and Gallup, he faces a Cardinals defense that has surrendered 222.4 air yards per game (ninth-fewest in NFL). That means the Cowboys will have to run the rock with Ezekiel Elliott, who does have a favorable matchup against Arizona’s run defense (124.2 yards/game).

As for the Cardinals, they’re coming off a convincing win over the lowly New York Jets. On Monday, quarterback Kyler Murray should have a field day against a Cowboys defense that has surrendered an average of 404.2 yards of offense per game. Expect DeAndre Hopkins, Christian Kirk and Larry Fitzgerald to have a field day in Dallas.
