19.Ā Matt Judon gets a big deal to anchor the Giants pass rush
The Giants will likely be one NFL team that enjoys a regime change of sorts this offseason. Dan Gettleman canāt survive another ugly year in New York. That should make the Giants a very active team in free agency.
One obvious need on their current roster is to add a top-tier pass rusher. Fortunately, there will be some really talented edge rusher available in free agency. Nabbing Mat Judon away from the Ravens would give Joe Judgeās defense a much-needed jolt.
Baltimore needs to pay a lot of guys on their current roster and Judon just doesnāt seem like a big priority. Buying him off with a one-year, $16.8 million deal for this season sent a clear indication that the playerās future lies elsewhere.
The Giants will be more than happy to pay above the market rate to lock Judon down on a three-year deal. The key will be to limit his guaranteed money down the line. A new GM for New York should be able to extract a value contract from a talented, but not dominant edge rusher like Judon.
