23. Richard Sherman makes one last run with the Saints

Sherman is one of the smarter players in the league and that statement is not limited to his on-field instincts. He’s also a person who understands that competing for championships should be a priority at this late stage of his career.

The 49ers have a chance to win a Super Bowl, but they are looking to build a younger roster. That makes Sherman one of the most intriguing defensive backs available in free agency.

The Saints happen to be in a division that features some of the most explosive passing attacks in the entire NFL. They have a real need to deploy five quality defensive backs at all times. Sherman may not be the shutdown corner they want to sign in a perfect world, but he can upgrade their secondary in several important ways as both a corner and safety.

To make this work, Sherman might have to accept less money than he might receive elsewhere, but he’s made plenty of cash during his professional career. Going ring chasing in the Big Easy seems like a great fit for a player who is always looking to expand his brand for life after football.
