Mesut Ozil’s career with Arsenal reportedly all but done
The writing is on the wall for German winger Mesut Ozil, who has been left off Arsenal’s 25-man English Premier League squad for the rest of 2020.
For all the Arsenal fans out there hoping to see German star Mesut Ozil take the pitch for Mikel Arteta, it doesn’t look like that’s going to be happening again. With so much controversy surrounding Arsenal and the 32-year-old standout, it now looks like Arsenal is ready to call it quits on his career with the club.
That’s because on Tuesday, ESPN is reporting the team has decided to leave Ozil off their official 25-man English Premier League roster. Because of this, Ozil is not eligible to play in any league contests for the rest of the year.

Mesut Ozil is yet to appear in any games for Arsenal this season
Ozil last appeared in a game for the Gunners last March. This season, he hasn’t seen a second of action, leaving his status with Arsenal completely up in the air. Now, it appears we know why the Gunners haven’t let him showcase his talents: because they’re ready for a future without him in their plans.
Ozil joined the London club at the Emirates Stadium back in 2013 from Real Madrid. During his time with Arsenal, Ozil has made 184 Premier League appearances, scoring 33 goals and adding 58 assists. He was also a sensational player for the German national team, scoring 23 goals in 92 caps for the team.
However, now that he’s 32, Ozil is on the back-end of his playing career. Arsenal understands this, which is why they know his time in London could be coming to a close in the near future. With the team leaving him off the 25-man roster, it feels like only a matter of time before Ozil is donning a new jersey.
