Best landing spots for Marcus Stroman in MLB free agency
By Mike Luciano
The MLB basically tried to shoehorn the Angels into the playoffs by expanding to 16 teams this year, and the Angels still ended up on the outside looking in. Mike Trout and Anthony Rendon were their usual, amazing selves on offense, but the Angels ultimately faltered once again after their poor pitching doomed them late in the game. The Angels’ farm system is heavy on athletic hitters like Jo Adell and Jordyn Adams, so the only way to quickly solve the pitching issue if giving Stroman tons of money in free agency.
The Angels fired Billy Eppler, in part because he consistently either failed to either look for pitching or failing when he did acquire pitching. Trout is a superhuman that will continue to set the record books ablaze, but he is just one man and he can only do so much when the likes of Julio Teheran are giving up six runs in four innings. Stroman would instantly take over the ace role from the resurgent Dylan Bundy and instantly give the Angels’ rotation some credibility.
