Scott Frost has an idea of why Nebraska opens the season against Ohio State.

Nebraska head coach Scott Frost is upset that Nebraska football opens the season against the fifth-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes Saturday. The Buckeyes are a 27.5 point favorite in this matchup.

In late August, USA Today’s Erick Smith reported that eight Nebraska football players filed a lawsuit with the District Court of Lancaster County against the conference. A motion was filed to dismiss the case which the players needed to oppose by Sept. 18 according to Omaha.com’s Evan Bland. He reported also that the Big Ten provided the documents required in the lawsuit that stated whether an official vote to postpone fall sports took place among the Council of Presidents and Chancellors.

Frost and Nebraska football Athletic Director Bill Moos opposed the season opener

Pivoting toward the game against Ohio State, Frost doesn’t believe that the game is a coincidence, 247Sports’ Garrett Stepien reported. Moos was not happy about the decision and felt that it is unfair that Ohio State only plays two AP Top 25 teams this season while Nebraska football plays five.

“I’m sure my friend (and Ohio State athletic director) Gene Smith is smiling today. His friend Bill Moos is not. I’ve got a good football team with a great football coach that deserves a break here or there to start getting back on track to being a contender in the Big Ten West,” Moos said.

This game could be an ugly result for Nebraska seeing as the Buckeyes have Justin Fields at quarterback who is coming off of a stellar season where he threw for over 3,000 yards, 41 touchdowns, and rushed for 484 yards and 10 touchdowns. Their defense is still formidable and will look to wreak havoc on Adrian Martinez who will be under center.

Despite his objection to the season opener, Frost commended Ohio State for leading the way in helping to bring Big Ten football back this season. As long as we have it, that’s all that matters.
