West. San Francisco 49ers. player. 42. NFC. Pick Analysis. 1. Scouting Report

Remember last season when the 49ers made an epic run towards Super Bowl 54? Does anyone remember what the missing piece was that took them over the top?

It was trading for Emmanuel Sanders to be a secondary weapon for Jimmy Garoppolo and the offense.

Once the former Broncos’ star joined the boys out in the bay, the offense thrived, going 7-3 and clinching the No.1 seed in the NFC.

Debo Samuel spent the first three games on the IR after undergoing surgery on his foot in the offseason. If you look at Garoppolo’s arsenal outside of George Kittle and Kendrick Bourne, there’s not a target that has more than 14 catches and only one touchdown (minus Jordan Reed with 2). Ross would play a very similar role to that of Sanders, thriving in the slot and using his speed to win after the catch. Add in his legs, this should open plays for Samuel and rookie Brandon Aiyuk win on the outside.

The 49ers are sitting at 3-3 in a tight NFC West. Anything to give them the edge will help, and Ross’ untapped potential in a Kyle Shanahan system might be just that.
