Penn State RB Journey Brown could miss season due to medical condition

Penn State football may be without running back Journey Brown this season
Penn State football fans may be getting some bad news about running back Journey Brown.
The Penn State Nittany Lions may be without its star running back for the season, as Brown is currently being treated for an undisclosed medical condition. Penn State is seen as the biggest challenger to the Ohio State Buckeyes in the conference this year. If the Nittany Lions win in two weeks at home, they might be the favorite to get to the College Football Playoff for the first time.
“Journey Brown is being treated for a medical condition discovered during the off-season and will potentially miss the 2020 football season,” said the Penn State athletic department in a statement. Saturday is the first game of the Nittany Lions’ season, as they will face the Indiana Hoosiers in Bloomington, Indiana in the mid-afternoon window. What if they’re without Brown?
Losing Journey Brown for the season could be a devastating blow for Penn State
Brown could have opted out of the 2020 college season, but decided to return to Penn State and help the Nittany Lions get to the College Football Playoff for the first time in school history. He rushed for 890 yards on 129 carries for 12 touchdowns. He also had 15 receptions out of the backfield for 134 yards and a touchdown. That’s over 1,000 all-purpose yards for Penn State.
Though the Week 9 game is at home vs. Ohio State, Penn State will need to play a near-perfect game to upset the Buckeyes. They’ve done it before under head coach James Franklin, and they’re going to need to do it again if they want any realistic shot of winning the Big Ten East crown and getting to Indianapolis. If Brown can’t go or he’s done for the year, then it’s next man up.
Losing Brown for the season would seriously jeopardize Penn State’s playoff chances.
