Brandon Lowe breaks out of slump with home run to open Game 2 for Rays (Video)
Brandon Lowe got the Rays on the board first in Game 2 of the World Series against the Dodgers on Wednesday night.
Brandon Lowe’s bat has let him down for much of the postseason, but it came up good in the first inning of Game 2 of the World Series.
The Rays‘ second baseman opened the scoring on Wednesday with a home run off Tony Gonsolin.
The bomb put Tampa Bay up 1-0, which is their first lead of the series.
Brandon Lowe his second home run of 2020 playoffs for the Rays
Lowe has struggled throughout the postseason, managing a .107 batting average and slugging percentage of .161. That’s a far cry from the .262 average and .513 percentage he had during the regular season.
Things started to heat up for him a bit at the end of the ALCS against the Astros. He hit his first home run of the postseason in Game 5 and managed a hit in each of the last three games of the series.
However, Game 1 of the World Series wasn’t so promising as he went 0-for-4.
The Rays need Lowe to build off the early success in Game 2. They are down 1-0 in the series after an offensive explosion gave the Dodgers the win on Tuesday night, 8-3.
