Daniel Jones stumbled and them fumbled away another Giants game, and now it’s time to wonder if someone else could do a better job.

Even with 52 sacks allowed by the offensive line, the Arizona Cardinals knew that Josh Rosen wasn’t the answer. Dave Gettleman or not, the New York Giants have to follow in the same suit by letting go of Daniel Jones.

Jones’ best play of Thursday’s 22-21 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles came on an 80-yard run where he fell short and became a social media sensation. On top of that, the second-year signal-caller finished 20-of-30 with two touchdowns and an interception. While the Giants lost thanks to poor defensively play, there were multiple times Jones could have sealed the deal and couldn’t connect with his targets.

Depending on where the Giants land in the draft, trading for an established quarterback might be better than drafting a prospect who could or couldn’t hit. Unless they land ahead of their little brother across the stadium known as the Jets, every pocket-passer on the market should be up for the taking. Things can’t get worse than Jones, but who would be available for either a rental or long-term option?

Which quarterback could lead the Giants better than Daniel Jones?

Scouting Report. QB. New York Jets. 1. player. Pick Analysis. Sam Darnold . 30

Darnold at one point was considered the top quarterback prospect in the NFL. Unfortunately, he landed in Adam Gase’s system and has struggled to develop into a quality player since. Now missing time due to a shoulder injury, perhaps that’s the best thing for the former No.3 overall pick to keep his confidence alive week by week.

Joe Judge has worked with players with average skills who find ways to win. Even in Gase’s flaw offense, Darnold currently sits with an 11-19 record, which isn’t terrible when you think about the offense. Trading a mid-round pick would allow New York to add a top receiver in the draft to pair with Darius Slayton, Sterling Shepard and Saquon Barkley for the future.

Darnold needs a chance of scenery, but who says that scenery needs to be in a different stadium?

Washington Football Team. Dwayne Haskins . 58. QB. 2. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis

There was a moment where the Giants once considered drafting the Ohio State product No.6 overall. Entering 2020, Gettleman seemed smart to avoid Haskins after struggles in Jay Gruden’s offensive play calling. Now, it seems like Gruden is the problem, not Haskins

Entering Thursday night, Jones had thrown three touchdowns, the same number as Haskins, who currently stands as the No.3 option in Landover. Entering 2021, Haskins will be on the market and teams not willing to trust their future in a young talent should buy in. Will the Giants be willing to give up an early selection for a player with untapped potential?

There’s no telling if Haskins can be the future of the program, but if he hits, New York lands a giant star for the Big Apple and keeps their early picks intact.

QB. player. Pick Analysis. Jacksonville Jaguars. Gardner Minshew. 3. 52. Scouting Report

Yes, while the Jaguars are sitting at 1-5, that’s not on Minshew.

In fact, he’s the one constant in Duval County. Whether you’d like to admit or not, he’s a quality quarterback that can lead a team deep into the postseason.

Minshew’s struggles aren’t based on offense but rather poor defensive play. Entering Week 7, the former sixth-round pick currently ranks in the top 10 of passing yards, passing yards per game, and touchdowns. Even the best quarterbacks could likely finish with four wins or less.

If Jacksonville picks inside the top five, expect them to add a quarterback. If so, it might boost Minshew’s stock, but his overall numbers are worthy of spending the cash to add him to the roster. And without a doubt he’s an upgrade over Jones immensely.
