Antonio Brown will be joining the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Antonio Brown may have only played one game with Tom Brady and the New England Patriots last year, but it must have left enough of an impression for the former star wideout to seek a reunion.

As first reported by Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle on Friday, the former Pittsburgh Steelers star will be visiting with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Saturday to discuss a potential deal, and both sides are “highly motivated” to get it done.

No long after, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported the two sides had agreed to a one-year deal that will see him back on the field for Week 9’s matchup against the New Orleans Saints. While there are still steps to be taken and language that needs to finalized, it appears as though the Bucs are landing the seven-time Pro Bowler.

Antonio Brown could sign with the Buccaneers soon

With Brady at the helm and a number of weapons around him, the Buccaneers have the potential to be one of the most explosive offenses in the NFL. Through their first six games of the season, the Bucs rank eighth in the league in scoring, averaging 29.5 points per game.

Adding one of the greatest wide receivers of all time sounds like a pretty good idea, though it’s worth noting that Brown’s attitude and off-the-field problems — including some disturbing sexual assault allegations — have kept him off the field for quite some time. Between all that controversy and his reputation as a head case, Brown has largely been unable to return to the peak levels of production he routinely reached in Pittsburgh.

Brown didn’t play a single game with the Oakland Raiders before they released him last year, and he played just one game with the Patriots — catching four balls for 56 yards and one touchdown — before they ultimately cut him due to the severity of multiple sexual assault allegations.

Though Brown considered retirement a few times over the last year, his suspension for the first eight weeks of the 2020 NFL season is almost up, and it appears Tampa Bay is his new home.
