Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated has reported the Giants are “open for business”, with Tate one of the names that has come up consistently with other teams.
Tate has two years left on his contract after this one, and his production is down this year (20 catches for 195 yards and one touchdown, on 26 targets). He did have a nice touchdown catch in Week 7 against the Eagles, as a bit of a showcase play for anyone that might think he’s washed.
Golden Tate is too strong on this TD 💪

Since 2016, Golden Tate leads the NFL in yards after catch over expected (+481 YACOE), 121 more than the next closest wide receiver (Chris Godwin, +360).#NYGvsPHI | #TogetherBlue

With no guaranteed salary after this year, the numbers attached to acquiring Tate don’t look that prohibitive.

Tate may not be what he’s been as an after-the-catch stud, if the early results this year are an indicator. But he is a reliable veteran receiver, and he’s no stranger to adjusting to a new team at the trade deadline (2018 from the Lions to the Eagles).
