After throttling the Houston Texans, Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers look great.

Wide receiver depth or not, the Green Bay Packers are dangerous. A week after an embarrassing loss to Tampa Bay, the 2.0 version showed  the rest of the NFC in a 36-20 over the Texans that they won’t go down quietly.

Entering Sunday, the Packers found out they would be down an offensive lineman in David Bakhtiari (chest) and running back Aaron Jones (calf). It didn’t matter to Matt LaFleur’s system. The offensive line didn’t allow a sack against the Texans lackluster pass rush while Jamaal Williams and A.J. Dillion did enough to combine for 88 yards and a score.

The storyline Sunday belongs to Aaron Rodgers and Devante Adams. The duo combined for 196 of Rodgers’ 283 yards and connected for a pair of touchdowns. Rodgers also found Jace Sternberger for a 3-yard touchdown and Malik Taylor for a quick 1-yarder that led to six.

Adams continues to prove his value for an offense where he’s the top weapon. Twice the veteran pass-catcher burned past a pair of Texans defenders, scoring once a deep 45-yard pass. Meanwhile, Rodgers finished with a rating of 132.5 and completed 67.7 percent of his passes.

As for the defense, they made Deshaun Watson pay with takedowns behind the line. The team combined for three sacks, including an impressive timed blitz from Arian Amos that resulted in a 12-yard loss. While the secondary might not have caused a turnover, Watson was limited to an average throw of 7.9 yards and never completed a pass longer than 30 yards.

What if the Packers add another receiver?

The Packers have been rumored to be in the market for a receiver. That will help, but Rodgers is finding ways to win with the pieces in place. Against the Texans’ defense, the three-time MVP connected with six targets, seeing three collect more than 30 yards on the afternoon.

Sitting at 5-1, Green Bay is in the driver seat along with likely a lead over the Chicago Bears. Unlike a Nick Foles-led offense, the Packers have Rodgers, who continues to play at a near flawless level. The team should soon be back to near full-strength as Bakhtiari and Jones could return next Sunday before a division showdown against the Minnesota Vikings.

Even if they miss time, Minnesota is a mess that shouldn’t be a problem for this offense that is clicking. Good luck teams on the Packers’ schedule, it could be a quick 60 minutes ending in defeat.
