Coming into the season, the wide receiver depth for the Green Bay Packers was heavily talked about. Does the team have enough? How hasn’t the front office given Aaron Rodgers more? Why would they not draft one? The conversation was talked about ad nauseam.

Well, all the Packers have done so far is be one of the highest-scoring offenses in the league and own a rather productive passing game even without Davante Adams for a few weeks. Other than the team’s Week 6 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, they had scored 30+ points in each game, dropping 40+ twice.

One of the reasons why the team has had success through the air is Marquez Valdes-Scantling. During his first two seasons in the NFL, he had stretches of play where he flashed the potential he has. So far this year, he has been a sound option to go to and has made plays while Adams and Allen Lazard have been sidelined.

In Week 1 against the Minnesota Vikings, Valdes-Scantling went for 96 yards and a score. Of course, that was with a full complement of players. This week, he has the potential to have another performance against the same opponent as the one he had in the first week.

The Vikings have struggled mightily defending the pass this season. Receivers have racked up the yards against them, and this unit has surrendered 12 receiving scores to opponent receivers

Adams will get his targets, no question about that. But in a game like this against an opponent struggling to defend receivers as much as the Vikings do, Valdes-Scantling still has a lot of value even with Adams potentially going for 10+ catches and 100+ yards.
