Details of Justin Turner’s positive COVID-19 test are insane

As the Los Angeles Dodgers celebrated their World Series win over the Tampa Bay Rays last night, we found out that Justin Turner had tested positive for COVID-19.

While the Dodgers were making their incredible comeback to win Game 6 of the World Series and their first championship in three decades, Justin Turner was pulled from the game because his COVID lab tests came back positive. The team would celebrate on the field after the big win, with Turner, masked up, returning to rejoice with his teammates.

The third baseman had struck out twice and gone 0-for-3 in the game before being yanked at the start of the eighth inning. Fans began to speculate about whether Turner had injured himself in a non-contact play or if his absence was a coach’s decision. We would later learn of his positive COVID test. Though he was pulled in the eighth, the lab results had apparently come in much sooner.

One might assume that Turner would have been advised to isolate after his test results. Though he wasn’t on the field initially after the game, he did make an appearance about an hour after the game had ended to take pictures with the World Series trophy, his family, and a few teammates.

Turner wore a mask that he would pull down occasionally for said pictures. We then learned that Turner was asked to isolate, but no one stopped him from taking the field during the celebration.

Dodgers players wore masks as they celebrated their big win, but had to take rapid COVID tests as soon as they got back to the team hotel.
