Nick Foles cleared the air about Brian Griese’s public omments surrounding Matt Nagy’s play-calling.

The Chicago Bears were humbled in a big way Monday night. The offense managed 10 points against the Los Angeles Rams and Nick Foles was held to 261 yards.

The Bears are still 5-2 and favorites to make the postseason. But that didn’t stop some drama from emerging thanks to announcer Brian Griese. During the broadcast, he shared a story about Foles mentioning that sometimes he knows plays won’t work when they are called, specifically that there wouldn’t be enough time for the play to work. This made Matt Nagy seem inept and unaware of certain aspects to keep in mind when calling certain plays.

This had the potential to be an issue and Foles was quick to come out and make sure there is no bad blood between him and his coach. He also made sure not to express anger at Griese.

No harsh feelings from Foles

Forgive, forget, and move on. This will also remind Foles not to share anything with the media he doesn’t want out there. That is fair game as long as Foles doesn’t specifically say it is off the record.

The veteran quarterback also squashed the problem by comparing it to working out a fight in a marriage.

The comments weren’t too egregious, however, Nagy could have taken them the wrong way. What Foles seemed to mean was that there are certain situations when plays won’t have time to develop. A quarterback on the field has a better feel than anyone on the sidelines, including the head coach.

The Bears being 5-2 also helps this story stay small. If the team was losing and Foles was openly complaining to the media, that would be a legitimate problem.
